Post title :
You'll never know the real me.

Hey all!!
Today, I went PRAWN fishing.
AHA!
I caught a STUNNING total of.....ZERO prawns!
hehe... Thankfully, my father and brother made up for my incompetenence by catching one prawn each.
Which brings us to a total of 0+2=2prawns for our family!!
YAY!

Anyway, I learnt two new things today.
#1. Worms are FASCINATING.
#2. I have witnessed the DEATH THROES of prawns.

Scary, huh.
We got some worms for prawn bait and they were... wait for it.... ALIVE!!!
Wriggly, squirmy, delightfully alive!

I couldn't bear to watch as people cut up a worm.
I only saw it trash around wildly and curl up against itself in pain.
My heart really went out to it.
The worst part is, as I was given a piece to stick onto the hook,
IT WRIGGLED! As I stuck the hook through that piece, it still wriggled in pain!!!
Gross...
Then how did I get to the conclusion that worms are fascinating?
Simple.
I "saved" one.
I pulled it out and cleaned dirt off it as best as I could.
I could actually see its blood pulsing through it.
I was awestricken.
The blood surged through the vessel that I could see.
When I touched it, it pulsed faster.
It slowed when I let it alone.
It was really amazing.
Sadly, I had to let it go after we were done.
I'm trying hard not to think about its fate.
It and I shared some real biology-related memories... [sigh]

Moving on, the DEATH THROES of a prawn.
It's actually pretty frightening. The prawns we caught were placed in a plastic bag.
Out of water, they were dying.
They kept jumping at first. Then they lay still.
I thought they were dead.
After a while, when i had let my guard down, those treacherous creatures in the bag started WRITHING!
I got the fright of my life.
Their actions were a lot more DESPERATE..
After a horrible short moment, the prawn gave its final thrash and settled.
Seeing this really affected me.
The suffering of this creature, its desperate jerky motions as it trashed for the last time.
The DEATH THROES.
Seriously, I think I'm just buying from the wet market from now on.
